Apple want to buy twitter?

ADVERTISEMENTS

Facebook tried to buy Twitter. Apply offered $700 million to twitter. Peoples keep asking what happened with the deal? Google and Microsoft have been giving the red-hot Internet-messaging startup the eye. But we hear it's Apple that's closest to sealing a deal, possibly for as much as $700 million.Twitter turned down a $500 million offer in cash and stock from Facebook, in part because Twitter's investors couldn't agree on whether Facebook's stock was worth as much as Facebook said it was.

Twitter's board says the company would be hard-pressed to refuse an all-cash offer in the range of $700 million. (Is Twitter really worth that? Since it's business is nothing but a fantasy at this point, any valuation, high or low, is a matter of make-believe.)

What does Twitter, an adorable but unprofitable startup, have to do with a hardware company like Apple? The iPhone is the obvious driver of the deal: The many iPhone apps like Tweetie that people use to post Twitter messages are hot sellers for Apple. But Apple gets the benefit of Twitter-addicted iPhone users whether or not it owns Twitter. And it seems like an odd cultural fit, since Apple's hardly known for its Web prowess.

Twitter doesn’t want to sell.

It’s well known that Google tried to buy it a while ago and Twitter said no. And not only that Twitter said no to Google, but Twitter’s CEO Evan Williams claims he won’t sell for any price to nobody, so the facts are very clear.

If Twitter will finally sell, they would probably want to keep the current board, because it’s a service that’s growing fast and they prove reliability, except from the downtime caused by the buzz it created all over the world. Their biggest problem is monetization and I could only see Twitter as a subsidiary of Google, because they know how to monetize, while Twitter’s board would remain the same.

In conclusion, Twitter might sell finally, but not right now, because it would be a foolishness, being a growing service and a recession. Later they might get a few times more than at the moment. We shall wait and see.

  2. Indeed Apple has all the reasons to buy Twitter. Because iphone has become Twitter's best friend. The application that supported both iphone and twitter makes their users feel comfortable. The deal will help develop more improvements if it does materialize. About the question of, does twitter worth that much? I think it is, twitter is a rising star in the field of social media. We all know how powerful it can be, or shall we we say how big opportunity it awaits if handled wisely.

  5. I don't think they are earning enough. Until now they are still on Brain Storming stage. Thinking ways on how they can effectively monetize Twitter without compromising its users. That's why the deal is a win, win situation, as what the old adage goes, " Two is better than one". If they both work together, it will enable TWITTER to move up, step higher. About its CEO, it is natural if they felt that way. It's indeed hard to lose your precious baby, when you are the one who is nursing it from the beginning until it becomes a hit. However, I don't think that would be the case. I believe that the twitter CEO still have the power if the deal eventually made. It's a division of shares and power but ONE TEAM.
