"Your OS drives your whole PC experience, so it's your job as an enthusiast to keep it in a high state of tune. After installing a new OS, most people just jump right in and start driving it through all their favorite applications and games. Makes sense, right? The operating system, after all, should be a background player in the computing experience—a means to an end, with the end being web surfing, content editing, and wanton destruction in the first-person shooter of one’s choice.

  4. I grew up building PC's, but I got a mac for college, and well....they're better :/ and just about all of the complaints people have about them (not good for gaming) are not valid anymore. Windows XP was probably the best OS ever made, but it's insanely old now, and Windows 7 still isn't what it should be. Right now, Mac OSX 10.6 is by far the best OS on the market imho. Just from a pragmatic standpoint, I am much more efficient working a mac. I get stuff done quicker, from typing papers to photoshopping/flash-game-making/recording-music to searching the internetz. Everyone should at least try both OS's and decide for themselves before being a troll (and I don't mean picking up a buddies for 30 minutes).

  6. Windows is high maintenance. If you know how to maintenance it then it will work great, if not then a fresh install will be needed periodically. Anyhow, real computer enthusiasts use open source operating systems like Linux, but if you want an easy button then Mac is the way to go.

  8. If you don't care about performance, ease of use, reliability etc. and you just want something expensive, then a mac is the way to go.

  10. @ the jackass that thinks macs can't get viruses, that can get viruses just as easily. that don't get viruses because more people use pc. the goal of a virus is to hit as many people as possible. if more people used mac than pc, mac would have all the viruses and pc would be "safer".

  12. Mac is garbage and always will be. Like computers with training wheels. They are what college kids and wannabe artists buy as status symbols. There is nothing an APPLE can do that a PC can't do 100x better...not to mention that APPLE STILL since 1984, has nothing compatible with it of any value. Oh boy...you can use adobe. Big whoop. Oh and...I've used both, frequently and in my profession, I have to be very artistic...especially with video editing. Mac simply sucks.

  14. I love you guys that say a Mac Cant get a virus....PCs are used by 90% of the free world, no one writes malicious script for a product used by 10% of people LOLZ

  16. Windows is the only computer that should be used for gaming since nowadays most Windows computers are made to play games while Mac and Linus isn't. I guess I don't have to comment about the idiot who thought mac couldn't get viruses since some other people already pwned their asses ^^.

  18. all of my friends' macs have had viruses so i dont understand how people think that they can't get them. the mac viruses are more costly than the pc viruses due to the over inflated price of the mac

  20. OK, listen up Mac fanboys, because the world thinks you're all idiots, and I'm going to explain to you WHY.

    1) The downright stupid 'Macs don't get viruses argument'. As stated in previous posts, macs have FEW viruses because there aren't enough people using them to warrant writing viruses for them. The people that write viruses like maximum exposure, and that ISN'T Macs. As they become more popular, so will the viruses that are written for them.

    2) PC's cost about half the price Macs do, and this is where buying a Mac gets exceptionally retarded, because you can buy a PC and install Mac OS on it. Yep, YOU can have a MAC for half the price of a MAC. So what's the difference between a genuine Mac and a PC running Mac OS? The little picture of an apple on the top. Yep, you payed double the price for a symbol of fruit. Good job.

    3) Even still, there are a lot of programs that simply aren't adapted for the Mac OS, even more that never will be. So while you sit in your cafe sipping your chai lattes thinking how cool you look with a nice shiny new Macintosh computer, just remember that you paid double the price for a computer that doesn't do as much as last years PC, but it's ok, because you have a little picture of fruit on it.

  22. People are still arguing about this?
I use both Mac and Pc, with Windows 7 Pcs are on a similar level to OSX all the old arguments are pretty redundant, Vista was bad but I have been pleasantly surprised by Win 7.
If you get a virus you're downloading dodgy stuff or looking on dodgy sites I have yet to get one on my W7 pc and my Mac crashes more (but that's for work so it gets more abuse).

Basically it comes down to do you want more options, games (less so with steam for mac now but still not the same level) and more customisation (PC) Or a contained OS with less options but more stability (but W7 is a lot more stable than XP)
